PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY

SELL YOUR PRODUCT THROUGH PROFESSIONAL IMAGERY

Physical commodities can take endless forms, from raw materials to manufactured items; from food produce and catering arrangements to branding elements. Whether captured in-studio under controlled lighting or on location at a trade show or a point of sale, any type or size of object can be showcased through professional product photography.

A product photographer requires not only the appropriate equipment (such as macro lenses and lighting booths), but, of even greater importance, an eye for detail and an extensive knowledge of image editing, which I am able to contribute to each project thanks to my many years of experience in my former creative profession, graphic design.

FAQs ABOUT MY PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY IN PARIS

Q) Do you provide image editing services such as clipping and photo montage?
As a former digital advertising designer I can certain propose such services as an addition to the photography itself. Simply send me your brief from which I’ll create a suitable proposal.

Q) We’d like our goods shot in the context of an upcoming trade show and would also like photographs of the related live product demonstrations. Is this possible?
Certainly; for trade fairs and exhibitions, we can look through the event itinerary to choose the best combination of time slots to ensure you’ll get the photographs you need.

Q) What’s the maximum size of product that can be shot in your studio?
As a very rough guide, I say around 1m², however this will always depend on the weight and qualities of the specific object. In your brief I strongly recommend submitting all such specificities of your items - ideally supporting them with reference images - so that I can assess what’s feasible and make suggestions specifically adapted to your product.

Q) My product is too large and impractical to transport. It would have to be shot on location, but space is extremely limited. What are your suggestions?
Should there not be sufficient space to install a background on location, then, assuming you want the product on a seamless background, I would shoot the product as is and create a background in post-production; as a former digital designer, such editing procedures are second nature to me.

Q) Where can I get advice and information on the planning of a photo shoot?

PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY (1/3)

IN STUDIO

There are many options for studio photography, which will depend on your product type and your desired usage of the final photographs. From standard e-commerce white background catalogue imagery to unique commercial visuals and in studio product demonstrations, anything is possible.

PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY (2/3)

RAW MATERIALS

Raw materials can range from construction components and minerals to food ingredients. Showing materials in their raw state entails capturing varying degrees of detail, from showing solid blocks or accumulated piles to capturing extreme macro perspectives to highlight textures. In all cases, careful arrangement and lighting are paramount.

PRODUCT REPORTAGE

Product reportage can capture any stage of a commodity’s journey, from its design, manufacture, assembly, installation, display, demonstration, advertisement, sale and, of course, its intended use. Contrary to trade show photography, product reportage isn’t necessarily bound to a specific event or even location; the items themselves are the focus of each photograph, with the given setting - whether a laboratory, an exhibition hall, or a factory - merely suggesting a generic related environment and thus adding mood and context to the image..

My on location product photography assignments have allowed me to create promotional visual imagery of merchandise of various sizes in the context of some of the biggest commercial trade fairs in Paris. In the role of trade show photographer, I know the importance of not only capturing the context and atmosphere of the occasion itself, but of also telling the story of the products through photographing people’s interaction with them : all commercial objects, including those that are purely decorative, each have their specific use, so whenever the occasion presents itself, this should be demonstrated through photographs.

As an event photographer, even when product photography isn’t even a specific goal, detail photography and the capturing of branding imagery often constitute an important part of my assignments.
